Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

Let's pretend it hasn't been two weeks since my last post.

In that time, the following things have happened:

Naomi's ear tubes have been installed.
It's been 80 degrees.
I killed my car.
The resale season has begun!
William has taken his two big final tests for his graduate program.

Of these, the surgery was definately the easiest.

Here are Naomi's feet, post-surgery.  She demanded
that her red shoes be left on.  They looked stunning with her little hospital gown.  All the nurses were quite impressed.  This was taken in the recovery room, where Naomi slept for over an hour after the twelve-minute procedure.  Probably due to the sedative she was given before they actually knocked her out.  Why the sedative, you ask? Oh.  Because the hospital ID bracelet was absolutely untenable.  She became quite cooperative after that.  Sadly, they didn't send us home with any of that stuff. But, all told, it was a remarkably easy thing.  Hopefully we will stave off any ear infections for a long while.

We have been taking full advantage of the gorgeous, unseasonable weather.  There are two playgrounds in walking distance and another one just a skip over from Nat and Amanda's house.  The girls are becoming real pros.  Lillian now walks into the playground, cheerfully waving, "Hi, Everybody!" Naomi climbs up anything that looks reasonably vertical and sometimes things that don't look reasonable at all.  She was seriously considering the firemen's pole the other day.   Lillian climbs the very predictable stairs into the play structure and heads down the same slide over and over, happy as a clam.  Except for this week, when WIlliam took the girls to a nearby park.  Naomi's been attempting this rainbow arch/ladder thing for a few visits.  It's like stepped U's that start climbing vertical but curve until they are horizontal steps.  Tricky.  William coached Naomi through it, spotting her so she didn't slip right through.  When she finished, Lillian apparently walked right up, over and across.  No Big Deal.

Then it was St. Patrick's Day.  Naomi made shamrock cookies with Nana.

Papa taught Lillian to count cards.

       I think she won.
Happy days, everyone.  It's almost Spring Break!

Birthday First

Yesterday was my birthday.  The blow of moving up one more age bracket in the survey questions was definately softened by the fact that this year, for the first time ever, two little people said to me, "Happy Birthday, Momma."

And that it was 65 degrees and sunny.  That, too.

Since no one was smart enough to take a picture of anything yesterday, most especially Naomi eating a very large piece of birthday cake all by herself, here are some pictures of the girls playing with trains.

It's been a recent obsession.  They crawl all over each other an the track shouting, "Choo!Choo!" and get very annoyed when the track comes apart.  We are also learning lessons in magnetic polarity as it is a major crisis when the trains won't stick together the right way.  This train obsession has been another example of Lillian's sorting personality.  She only plays with the two green trains. Naomi can have the other 12 cars of various colors, but Lillian just wants the two that are green. Which explains exactly why Naomi wants those, too.  Seriously.  Is the U.N. this hard?  I may put in an application.  Let me at the Middle East Peace Negotiations.  It can't be any more difficult. Just as log as I can distract everyone with play-dough if the talks take a downturn.
