This morning was probably our last day at Baby Group at the Parent Center. It's been a great place to meet new people and share in the agony and ecstasy that the first year of babies can be. We'll switch now, to Thursdays, which host a beautiful chaos of mixed age drop-ins. Toddlers and preschoolers and, like, 4 sets of twins. It will be less focused on us fraught parents and more on the kids, with circle time and free play. In some ways, I could tell we were getting ready. We can't just put down roots at the side of the carpet anymore and chat with the other parents. I listen in to the conversation as I'm following the girls around the big playroom, picking up discarded toys and trying to keep them from clobbering the tiny little babies. At least with the older kids, the clobbering will be fair.
